Windows 7 has set a new standard for the Windows operating system. They took the best from past operating systems and improved the functionality and memory usage. I think for most people the "blue screen of death" is a thing of the past, or at least very rare. This alone was the factor that pushed me from Windows Vista to Windows 7, and I have no regrets.
